How to choose the right domes
Match the size
Domes are sized in millimetres (typically 6–12 mm). Use the same size your audiologist fitted — too small whistles, too large feels tight.
Match the style
Open domes keep the ear canal ventilated, generally for mild to moderate loss; closed and power domes seal more sound in, generally for moderate loss or worse. Tulip and double-vent styles sit in between.
Replace every 2–3 months
Swap domes when they discolour, stiffen or tear. Fresh domes keep sound clean and prevent earwax reaching the receiver.
When to change your wax filters
Change every 4–8 weeks
Replace a wax guard as soon as sound becomes weak, muffled or cuts out — that usually means the filter is clogged, not the hearing aid failing.
Always fit a fresh guard
Use the removal tool to pull the old filter, then press in a new one. Never reuse a guard — it's the cheapest part protecting the most expensive one.
Keep spares on hand
Filters are the most common reason a hearing aid goes quiet. A spare pack in your kit means a 30-second fix instead of a clinic visit.
Getting the most from your batteries
Match the size & colour
Hearing-aid batteries are colour-coded by size: 10 (yellow), 312 (brown), 13 (orange) and 675 (blue). Use the size your device takes.
Wait 60 seconds after the tab
These are zinc-air batteries. Peel the tab, then leave it off for a full minute before inserting — it lets air activate the cell and adds days of life.
Store cool and dry
Keep batteries at room temperature with the tab on. Avoid the fridge and loose pockets, where coins can short them.

What domes does the Oticon Nera2 use?
The Oticon Nera2 uses RITE domes. Match the size (in millimetres) and style your audiologist fitted — it's usually printed on your current dome. Not sure which to pick? Send us a photo and we'll match it.
What wax filters does the Oticon Nera2 use?
The Oticon Nera2 uses wax guards sized for its receiver (shown in the Compatible wax filters section above). Each guard comes on a dual-ended tool — pull the old one out of the receiver and press a fresh one in, about 30 seconds per aid.
How often should I replace the domes and wax filters on the Oticon Nera2?
Replace the domes every 2–3 months — sooner if one discolours, hardens or tears — and change the wax filters every 4–8 weeks, or as soon as an aid sounds weak or muffled. Both take under a minute at home.
Is the Oticon Nera2 rechargeable, or does it use batteries?
The Oticon Nera2 uses size 312 disposable batteries — see the Compatible batteries section above.
